► Eligibility Requirements
The Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) requires that all licensees meet the following minimum requirements:
■ Age—You must be at least 18 years old.
■ Honesty—You must be completely honest and truthful. Failure to include complete and accurate information maybe grounds for denial of your application. Convictions of felony or morally questionable crimes
may also be cause for denial and must be included on your application. (All applications must be accompanied by a completed fingerprint card, designed specifically for the Florida Real Estate Commission.*)
■ Education—You must meet the FREC's education requirements
The State of Florida has a mutual recognition agreement with the following other states:
Alabama
Kentucky
Arkansas
Mississippi
Colorado
Nebraska
Georgia
Oklahoma
Indiana
Tennessee
In other words, Florida does honor out-of-state real estate licenses that meet the requirements of the respective state. All interested parties are encouraged to contact the licensing body in the state of interest to find out the process in order to receive the license in that state. Although Florida has an agreement with the above listed states, requirements by each state's licensing authority can be slightly different.
Note: You may not legally perform licensed transactions before associating with a licensed real estate bro¬ker, an owner developer, or a government agency.
